I took a break from blogging because life happened. It felt like I was suddenly wearing too many hats, so I took a long break. Taking a step back from something I love is difficult, but sometimes it’s necessary for personal growth and well-being.

Throughout my blogging journey, I’ve encountered various challenges, such as writer’s block, and being too busy to write due to family and work commitments. I have also questioned whether my content benefits my Nigerian/African community. Despite these obstacles, I still feel driven to continue, recalling the advice my pastor Johnson gave me when I started: “Do not put too much pressure on yourself, write when you can!” In other words, enjoy the journey! Therefore, I regularly remind myself that taking a break from tasks is okay when you feel overwhelmed.

I took a break from blogging and I’m back to share the reasons why. Read on to find out why I started a blog and why I take regular breaks from It.

1. Took A Break To Work On A Special Project

I started this blog to share my experiences as a Nigerian-British parent and address some of the issues that immigrant parents face while raising second-generation children in the diaspora. Trust me, It’s a rollercoaster of highs and lows!

My goal has always been to create valuable and engaging content so I took a break to re-discover my passion and purpose. I decided to explore new topics, do some research and engage in conversations that reignited my passion.

This has led me to work on a special project that would add more value to African parents raising children in the diaspora. I can’t wait to share it with you all. Stay tuned for more details!

2. Took A Break From Blogging To Recharge

I started this blog in 2020 because I felt a leading in the spirit to create parenting content that would be helpful for people in my Nigerian/African community living and raising children in the diaspora. I also do a lot of writing as part of my job as a child social worker so i felt that blogging would be something that is “up my street”.

Despite all the reasons mentioned above, I couldn’t shake off the initial imposter syndrome when i first started blogging. I was unsure if I would have the time to pursue this due to family, work, and other commitments. However, I didn’t allow analysis paralysis to derail me because I knew it was something that God had placed in my heart.

With the support of my husband and without telling anyone else, partly because I didn’t want anyone to talk me out of it in their bid to be realistic, I purchased a domain and hosting from Bluehost. With the help of Bluehost customer service and using tools like Elementor, I was able to set up my website. It was a challenging task for someone with limited web design skills, but I feel proud that I was able to accomplish this.

Over time, I have enjoyed creating content. However, the constant cycle of creating, promoting, and engaging with readers, along with managing day-to-day life, became exhausting. When this happened, I knew it was time to take a break to recharge and focus on self-care. Taking a break has ensured that I have come back with renewed energy and passion.”

I experienced significant changes and new opportunities in both my family life and career that required my attention. Throughout this period, I gained fresh perspectives and experiences that have enriched my life.

The experiences have not only shaped my perspective but have also given me new ideas and insights to share with my readers. Returning to blogging, I feel better prepared to provide valuable content that aligns with my audience’s varied interests and needs.

Conclusion

As I return from my break, I am committed to sharing meaningful content and connecting with my readers. And hope that you will continue to find my content valuable. Watch this space!
